July Monthly Business Survey: How would you like your tax money spent?

With cuts of at least 20% expected in Government departments with responsibility for business growth, higher education and infrastructure, it's never been more important that business makes clear what it needs to deliver the recovery, wealth and jobs.

The theme for this month’s survey is "How would you like your tax money spent?" and we'll use the results to influence the Government's spending plans. To participate, please click

here. The survey closes on 12th July 2010.

Media Opportunities

Our Press & PR team are constantly getting requests from local and national newspapers, television and radio asking for business contacts who would be willing to speak to them about a variety of subjects.

Recent examples include how businesses are recovering from the recession.

If you would like to make yourself available and would be willing to liaise with the media, then please follow the
link and complete the required information.

We are working on a wide range of policy issues and consultations and your views are very important to us. Through our research, we want to find out what our members think and what issues are affecting your business. We are here to represent the views of the Birmingham business community and get your voice heard by MPs and key decision makers.

Another way for Chamber members to get involved with its lobby work is to join the 'Virtual Committee' network.

From transport to taxation, EU policy to environmental issues, Birmingham Chamber’s 'Virtual Committee' (VC) network provides a forum for businesses to have their say on what matters most to them.

The VC network is entirely free to join and is conducted via email for direct and speedy access to the Chamber’s policy unit team.

The VC network enables you to make the most of your Chamber membership by providing:

Opportunities to be part of a large and powerful lobbying force, identifying issues of concern to business and delivering solutions and recommendations to Government and other key decision makers;

Opportunities for positive media exposure facilitated by Birmingham Chamber and its extensive press contacts.

If you wish to be part of the VC network or want to find out more, email policy adviser Kiran Virk at k.virk@birminghamchamber.org.uk or phone 0121 607 1781
