Equal Opoortunities Policy Statement

The Birmingham Chamber of Commerce & Industry is committed to an Equal Opportunities Policy. The aim of the policy is to ensure that no job applicant or employee receives less favourable treatment on the grounds of sex, race, colour, national or ethnic origin, religious belief, marital status, sexuality, age or disability and they are not disadvantaged because of job conditions or requirements that can not be justified.

To ensure that our policy is operated effectively and for no other purpose the Chamber maintains records of gender, race, ethnic origin, disability and age.

Regular monitoring and analysis of such records through our Equal Opportunities Monitoring process provide the basis for appropriate action to eliminate unlawful direct and indirect discrimination and provide equality of opportunity.
Objectives

BCI intends to pursue its equal opportunity policy with the following primary objectives:

  • To ensure that BCI has access to the widest labour market and secures the best employees for its needs irrespective of gender, marital status, race, ethnic origin, disability and age.
  • To ensure that no applicant or employee receives less favourable treatment and wherever practicable they are given the help they need to attain their full potential to the benefit of BCI and themselves.
  • To ensure that our training programmes and other service contracts are not limited by gender, race, colour, ethnic origin, disability or age
